Kinky Disco – Season X feat Matt Hardinge & Joey Payne

By Billy The Kid / Word on the Street / 8th December 2016

Kinky Disco returns for the summer with their season opener – Season X.

The rumours were flying around the Mother City that they were bringing in some international big guns for this one, and the final announcement confirmed this. Matt Hardinge and Joey Payne will be joining the local hitters such as Michael Douglas, Ian Skene and Audiojerk.

Artist Profiles:
Matt Hardinge:

The founder of the world renowned label Motek – the man has been making big moves in the scene since 2009, when he became a resident at Ministry of Sound in London. During this time he gained valuable experience playing for big crowds while opening for many of the world’s best ‘big room’ DJs such as: Paul Oakenfold, Faithless, Nick Warren and Paul Van Dyk.

After a couple of years Matt decided to dig deeper into the underground, and this lead him to start Motek. He has since shared the decks with the likes of Tale of Us, Richie Hawtin and Eric Volta.

“Matt creates a distinctly unique sound by blending together the best bits of deep house, tech house and techno. You can expect his sound to be deep, dark and sexy and bring the crowd in the direction he wants… to the dance floor!”

Joey Payne

The incredible line-up is even futher bolstered through the incorporation of international arist Joey Payne. Joey, at age 21, is spicing up the Tech House scene internationally showing off his talent at venues such as and not limited to – Tommorrow Land, Studio 80 [Amsterdam] and The Place [Ibiza]. The man is on the grind, putting in the long hours all in the pursuit of his dream – bringing his sounds to the world.

Michael Douglas:

The fresh new members on the block – Michael Douglas. A combination of two extraordinary talents bringing a new rhythm to the Tech House scene.

“Starting from intimate club residencies, they soon founded their label, The Deep End. Not long after, they made their way to more than a few world renowned stages. Specializing in House and Techno, Michael Douglas has made a prominent progression in the electronic music scene in Cape Town in a short space of time.”

The tremendous growth that has been seen over the past year, we feel, has to be attributed to the the pure determination and passion that these men have for their sound. They present a superb quality of feels when they strap-up the decks, gifting all their fans with a groove that keeps the bounce in your legs throughout the set.

El Gordo:

will be closing off the evening after Matt Hardinge. You can expect his set to grab you by the ankles and shake you for your lunch money, and leave you begging for more.

“El Gordo starting mixing records at the age of 9; as his peers were still picking their noses and scratching their bottoms he’d begun picking rave bombs and scratching vinyl. Whilst musical trends rise and recede like the tides, El Gordo has remained afloat, thus earning his reputation as a bona fide captain of the dance. His signature sound draws upon 2 decades of sonic schooling, and from this, his happiest of places, he strives to deliver the extra-ordinary; the indefinable.”

The venue looks set to be one of the best we see this season, and the Kinky Disco team have engineered an unbelievable stage, set up with a crisp and powerful Funktion 1 sound rig.
