By now, most of you would have seen the Adidas ORIGINAL is never finished campaign that went viral this month. It has been lauded for it’s cutting edge brilliance as well as the involvement of big names such as Snoop Dogg.
You also might have thought that a couple of the places hit you with a sense of dejavu, a weird connection to the houses and streets flashing across your screen. This is because the ad was shot in South Africa by director Terrence Neal.
Terrence was born in Joburg and his style was crafted as a young blood making skate films on VHS. He treats the urban environment as his canvas to create some serious masterpieces. His work and general aesthetic is dripping with the edge and grit that makes Mzansi a growing favourite for directors looking to shoot gangster ass music videos.
He has won countless awards for his work and the Ragga Bomb music video that he shot for Skrillex has over 100 million views on Youtube. His previous Adidas campaign also won a Lion at Cannes Film Festival.
Every music video or advert he shoots feels like the peak scene of a movie you want to watch yesterday.
Treat yourselves to some more brilliance from one of the South African directors putting us on the map.
