Towards the end of last year the Crooks had the privilege of attending Mother City Live in Cape Town. The initiative behind this party is something that really appealed to us – developed in the hope of promoting the up and coming musical talent that Cape Town has to offer.
Boasting the likes of Youngsta, Grassy Spark & Jimmy Nevis, the Mother City Live team hope to showcase all that Cape Town has to offer, In a quest to grab some of that limelight from Joburg, and fix it on the talent pool on offer in the Cape.
The Crooks were lucky enough to have a sit down with local, up and coming Hip-Hop talent – Fonzo!
This man is truly an inspiration – originally an Eastern Cape boy, Fonzo found himself moving to the Mother City at a young age where his passion and drive to pursue the dream of making it in the rap industry truly developed.
Fonzo didn’t mince his words as he got stuck into a few issues with Cape Town and the rap scene as a whole.
The lack of infrastructure and “talent drain” came up as pressing issues relating to the Western Cape.
His performance at MCL was as crisp as ever and he really inspired us with his insight in this interview. We foresee big things for Fonzo and the AKMG team this year.
Pick him up on:
