Tasty Tuesday: Sampa The Great

By Archie / Beats / 31st January 2017

Imagine if one could combine a smooth groove with the soulful rhythm of the African heart beat and produce a Hip-Hop tune that just resonates with you. Well we may have stumbled up a goddess, a woman who with out a doubt brings some of the sweetest rhymes that have touched our ears in a long time. Ladies and gentlemen we give to you the gem that is Sampa The Great.

Zambian born, Botswana raised and Melbourne based hip-hop artist Sampa is the full package. With her love for rhyme starting at the tender age of 9 when she overheard Tupac preaching – Changes [sidebar], while calling her cousin from her room. Since that day she has never looked back, always aiming to up her game and prove to be a world-class rapper.

“It’s a search for creativity, laughter, purpose and rhythms.”

This sensation dropped her debut album two years back with the production for the album being done by the Australian wizard Godriguez. The album was packed full of all the feels required to put a smile on your face, the shake back in your bones and the rhythm back in your soul.

Sampa The Great – something is telling us that this is a name not to forget. Armed with all the tools required to make it in this industry – she has gone out and dropped a rock in the pond. Tell you what though, she is definitely starting to rock the boat.

Yours Sincerely,

Halfway Crooks
